Our Story
It was sometime in high school that we met. Sarah went to private school and I went to public school. We would see each other at parties with mutual friends and knew each other for a while before we started dating. It was February 2006, at a party when the sparks began. It's unclear if either of us thought it would last very long, we were both incredibly young. § Sarah has always been very smart and I knew she was incredibly special when I met her. She was creative, thoughtful and a good student. I was wild and unfocused. She used to tutor me in math! I think I was more interested in her than the trigonometry. § Sarah went to college and we decided to try long distance. I ended up following Sarah to Virginia Tech. At times it was rough, but we persisted and kept our relationship going. § After college, we both moved back to DC for a few years. In 2014, I decided to take a big career change to move to California. A few months later, Sarah joined me on the west coast. § Since we've moved to California, we've traveled around the world together — Korea, Japan, France, Italy, Copenhagen, Norway, Sweden, Scotland, England and Cuba to name a few.
On December 23rd 2016, at Arena stage theater in front of Sarah's family, I knelt down and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. § Throughout our relationship, Sarah has always been there for me. And I'll continue to be there for her. I like to think of our relationship as a fine cheese or wine — the beginning isn't actually very interesting. But over time, it starts to get more and more rich and intriguing. We have built up a slow and steady crescendo that has continually been enriched. We have the best years ahead of us, and even though we've been together for almost 12 years it doesn't feel that long. And I'm excited for what life has in store for us.
